It’s all in how you look at it, life that is, whether it is funny or not. Take my name, for instance. It wasn’t that great growing up named Ethel. Even when I went by my middle name Marie, there was always Ethel at the first of the school year until the teacher figured out who I was. By then the kids all knew my name and I was doomed. It wasn’t funny then, but now I get lots of laughs from people when I tell them I am the last living Ethel. It’s not true, of course, but it’s funny. It’s all in how you look at it.

So I decided to reconsider my life, past, present, and future, and find out what is fun and funny, what the bright side is, whatever works. I am going to share my discoveries with you in my blog. My life may be so funny, it will make yours funny, too.

    Dear Ethel-Marie,
Do you like that combo? It’s typically French, the hyphenated first name. Like Marie-Antoinette, Marie-Amélie, Jean-Philippe, Jean-François … the list is long. I had an Aunt with that first name, just FYI.
